Transfer Powder
Transfer Powder is an adhesive product used in the transfer printing method to ensure that the ink adheres to the material being printed.
When exposed to heat, Transfer Powder melts and creates an adhesive effect. In multicolor prints, the transfer paper that has undergone the printing process requires a backing layer. A transparent backing should be applied for light-colored materials, while a white backing should be used for dark-colored materials. For single-color prints, no backing is necessary.
After the transfer paper has been backed, it is coated with Transfer Powder and then shaken to remove the excess powder. The transfer paper must then be passed through a curing oven to fix the inks. Once out of the oven, the transfer paper is cut with scissors or a guillotine, leaving space around the design, and then transferred onto textile products with the help of a heat press.
Transfer printing is especially used for products such as t-shirts and bags. If the placement of the design on the surface is highly important, transparent PET Transfer Film can be used instead of transfer paper. Transfer films are commonly used for sports jerseys.
Transfer Powder is available in our stocks in different grades and properties. The thickness of the powders is specified in microns.
Polyester (PES) Based Transfer Powder
0–80 micron: Fine Transfer Powder (used by mixing into the ink).
80–170 micron: Coarse Transfer Powder.
125–200 micron: Coarse Transfer Powder.
Polyurethane (TPU) Based Transfer Powder
80–170 micron: Stretch Transfer Powder (suitable for use in DTF digital transfer printing machines).
Co-Polyamide (PA) Based Transfer Powder
0–80 micron: Fine Transfer Powder (used by mixing into the ink).
